In accordance to changes in federal law as described in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), the following changes are effective July 1, 2011:
Elimination of all annual and lifetime dollar limitations on essential benefits
Dependent coverage limiting age moved to end of month the dependent turns 26
Prohibition of pre-existing condition exclusions for Participants under age 19
Preventive/Wellness yearly dollar amount elimination
First dollar coverage is now offered on preventive services based on the criteria outlined in the PPACA, so long as the services are rendered by a Blue Cross Blue Shield Participating Provider. When not rendered by a participating provider, the approved services will apply to the plan deductible and coinsurance amounts.
